CACHE IN TRASH OUT
Cache In Trash Out® (CITO) is an environmental initiative supported by the geocaching community. Since 2002, CITO has helped preserve the natural beauty of geocache-friendly sites. Since then, over 363,000 people have volunteered at 18,000 CITO events.
Twice a year, geocachers can earn virtual souvenirs for organizing or attending events during CITO seasons. Visit the Help Center for more information about the upcoming CITO season.
Be Present at CITO Events
At CITO events, geocachers and community groups work together to improve parks and other outdoor environments. They clean up trash, plant trees, remove invasive species, create trails and much more.
To attend an event, find CITO events near you.
Organize CITO Events
To organize an event, contact a venue owner, local organization or government agency to determine your community's needs. Make sure you get permission for your project.
CITO every day
CITO can happen on any geocaching adventure! Pick up rubbish you find on the trail. Clear the area around the geocache. These small actions make a big difference.
